Surface testing for what you can actually see.
When growth is visible on drywall, grout, baseboards, or HVAC, surface sampling tells you exactly what species you're dealing with — and how dangerous it is.
Surface mold testing is the fastest way to confirm what's growing on a suspect spot. We collect tape lifts, swabs, and bulk material samples directly from the area in question — typically in under 30 minutes on site.
Samples go to our AIHA-accredited lab for direct microscopy. Results come back in 3–5 business days with full species identification, so you know whether you're dealing with cosmetic Cladosporium or something more serious like Stachybotrys.
We use surface testing alongside air sampling whenever possible — together they give the clearest picture of what's happening inside your Santa Ana home.

FAQ
Surface testing, answered.
Still wondering? A real Santa Ana inspector answers the phone at (805) 892-8838.
- Sometimes — and sometimes it's just mildew or soap scum. A 30-second swab in your Santa Ana bathroom plus a lab report tells you for sure, instead of guessing.
- A tape lift is a clear adhesive pressed against a surface — fast, non-destructive, and ideal for drywall or wood. A swab is a sterile cotton tip used in tighter or wetter spots like grout, HVAC coils, and window tracks.
- Yes — if growth is on a material we can safely cut (a piece of baseboard, an attic batt, a stained drywall plug), bulk samples give the lab the most accurate species ID. Always done with your written consent.
- Not really. Surface testing confirms what's on the surface. Air sampling tells you what's airborne — and those are different problems. We strongly recommend pairing the two.
- Standard turnaround is 3–5 business days from sample arrival at our AIHA-accredited lab. Rush 48-hour results are available across Orange County for an additional fee.
